So many things have happened in the past few months regarding the different moves that advocates do to secure net neutrality.
It is noticeable that giant tech companies like Facebook and Google seem to lie low. However, it doesn’t mean that they are not doing anything to secure net neutrality. They just have their own moves to thwart the FCC’s decision to demolish the consumers’ open internet.
Netflix and Google tweeted links to a movement by the Internet Association which is the industry’s lobbying authority. Facebook and others did not place any banners or even run blogs but issued comments to secure net neutrality.
“Facebook continues to support strong net neutrality protections that ensure the internet remains open for everyone. We also stand ready to work with any policymakers on a framework that will protect the open internet,” the company said while citing its support in the congressional effort to secure net neutrality.
Last year, the “Day of Action” motivated Google, Amazon, and others to write a blog post or accommodate banners. It encourages both individuals and organizations worldwide to “live united” and take steps to deal with different challenges. This persuades users to write remarks to support the 2015 Open Internet Order that prohibits blocking, throttling, and employment of paid prioritization. It is like the “Red Alert” campaign that open internet advocates organized to push Congress to secure net neutrality.
The tech business is not the only participant in the fight to secure net neutrality. More than 20 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against the FCC. They were joined by many consumer groups to defy the federal agency’s repeal.
Decenternet might not be too vocal to secure net neutrality, but it does so much with a deed. It provides users with boundless access to different websites without interfering with the connection and internet traffic. It also treats all contents equally without any preferences.
